Welcome to STUFF – Tatting Patterns, TattingCAD, and Craft Projects
Welcome to my STUFF blog, where I share tatting patterns, TattingCAD updates, and craft projects.
Since everything is always evolving, I don’t know what shape this will take even a few months from now, but I hope it becomes a place worth keeping an eye on for tatting enthusiasts and craft lovers.
This blog focuses on tatting patterns, tatting design tools, and craft projects—including needle and shuttle tatting—centered around TattingCAD.
Why I Created TattingCAD and This Blog
I started tatting about 2–3 years ago, and I completely got hooked—now I’m all in.
I’m very interested in making new jewelry and useful, decorative pieces. Designing patterns on paper works, but for a shareable pattern, I needed a digital tool. I have experience with the usual tools—Inkscape, Illustrator, Photoshop—but they didn’t quite fit my needs.
I wanted something that takes my notation and keeps lengths consistent, no matter how I manipulate the design. I also wanted to incorporate beads and, at the end, generate a finished written pattern.

What’s coming next?
I haven’t even finished this chapter yet (though, knowing crafters and artists, the work is never truly done). Hopefully, after launching the project, I’ll be able to take a breather.
So far, I’ve been telling myself this project is “just for me” and maybe for “five older ladies across the whole globe” who might use it. Still, I hope it ends up helping more people—and maybe even gets more people interested in this craft.
So, what’s next? I’ve already added a few enhancement ideas in the GitHub Issues tab. If there’s interest, I plan to add more features: Cluny leaves, special chains, folded long picots, and my current favorite idea—a progress tracker for patterns.
But I’ve gone on long enough. Have a great day—and we’ll see where this goes, but I hope this blog becomes a resource for anyone interested in tatting patterns, TattingCAD, and needle and shuttle tatting projects.
